"The Power To Take It Up (Again)" [Module # 108] (John 8: 13)
We have the power to lay things down –
Whatever win, success, or crown
The world has deemed us worthy of
It matters not (though hurts) because –In larger scheme of life there lies
A way of doing life – and guys
Or girls can always enter in
It at the first – or now begin –To be the apple of God’s eye,
A part of life beneath the sky;
“How great I art?” I doubt it, man
Nor need we tout, “How great I am” –In resume or self-blown horn,
Nor strut our stuff at break of morn;
For we’re alive, when once quite dead –
Our world’s been turned upon its head.So lay it down, or pick it up,
We’re free indeed – can glory stuff –
Like day I my credentials burned,
Lest I someday use what I’d “earned”.I’d laid them down and let them take
Credentialed life, but when I baked
Them in the barbecue that day,
I took them up a whole new way.For now no thief could steal away,
Nor moth chew up, rain rust away;
Deposited the only place
That matters now – in heaven’s gates.Authority? From God it comes;
Permission? Like the stream-bed runs
Downwards from man’s attainment-mount,
Where least resistance-value counts.So here, today, this story’s clear,
Christ was attacked, He showed no fear,
For they could take what mattered least
Credentials – teacher, Rabbi, priest.And yet He turned things upside down;
Took on the worst that was around;
Thus set us free – in Jubilee
He was, and is, and will be – free.Thanks Lord for this.
