"Sense Enough To Keep Quiet"   [Module #72]  (Luke 9:36; James 3:1-12)

For once the men had sense enough
To hold their peace – perhaps quite tough
For Peter, who, like me would speak
His mind – but he said not a peep.

We all have troubles with our tongue,
Not just as kids who still are young
And have not learned the world is cruel,
(Which gets cleared up when off to school):

Perceivers shoot from hip – big guns;
While servers bluntly speak, are ones
For whom life’s not ethereal,
More, “What is seen is what is real”.

Compassion-people mealy-mouth,
Or dribble what they think about;
Encouragers speak ’fore they think,
And interrupt you in a blink.

The teacher-types will set you straight,
And snuff the wick quick as a wink;
The givers speak with sleeper-plays,
Effective after long delays.

But sometimes, overwhelmed we are
By what’s transpired; and blocked ’till far
Into our future, when release
Has come to gently speak our peace.

I sense that’s what’s transpired this time –
Apostles did not speak their mind,
But pondered, just like Mary did,
Their inner thoughts – to others hid.

Thanks Lord, for this.
