"Sent Back To Shallowed Life"  [Module #61] (John 6:53-59)

When intros spin you out, or foreplay is enough;
When shallows where you play has surf that’s far too rough;
When thoughts of joy and peace, like home-made apple pie
By hearth with kindred heart’s, so good you then could die –

Give thought to words my dad would quip at times like that,
“All this and heaven too!” (My “satisfaction’s cat”);
For yes, it’s “Just the earth, and fullness of its life”
But glorious it is, as morning plays its light.

But – is this all there is in universe for us?
Does water deeper get than shallows’ foaming fuss?
Why yes, push out the boat, in deeper waters be;
Though storms will sometimes come, the deep was meant for thee.

So Spirit’s daily bread feeds us in deeper sea;
As Christ was also fed, the Spirit meets our need;
Out here no means are seen to hold us on each wave,
But stepping from the boat, we move beyond just “brave”.

For nothing done, or seen to date’s prepared us for
This challenge which we face, as we go on before
Our hearts and minds catch up – we press on to the end –
No way thought works out here, on Spirit we depend.

Thanks Lord, for speaking thus in synagogue that day;
Though many heard Your word quite well, then walked away,
Those twelve You chose to send across Your culture’s wall,
Asked, “Where would we then go?” though faith was then quite small.

We too feel that way Lord, “Help Thou our unbelief”;
Help us to press on out beyond the sheltered reef –
To life beyond just this – though splendid here indeed;
The loop was built for us – ’till shallowed life we meet.

Thanks Lord for this. Amen (so be it).
