"Long Journey Home"  [Module #62-plus = #466)] (John 6:59)

From day when first we found ourselves at odds
With social life around, and other gods,
And felt somehow there must be more than this,
We found ourselves upon a road to bliss –

Not surface bliss, not just a different road,
But one on which we found our heavy load
Relieved – the journey not the strain we had,
But pleasant – moved along from feelings sad.

Then comes the day when others sidle up
And ask, “How is it your life’s not so tough?
For I can see your load is a tougher yet.”
We answer, come, I’ll show how you can get –

A life in Christ – the way back to your home;
As person of the Way, you need not roam;
Just follow me, I’ll take you to The Chief –
Best person, friend, and guide you’ll ever meet.

And someday in their journey it unfolds –
They shift to living out what they’ve been told;
It’s different for each one of us, the Way,
But common to us all is Spirit’s sway.

The bread of life’s for everyone today;
It’s free, though cost-of-living life that way
Is high, in friends, and cash, and life for us;
But nothing when on better road we’re thrust.

So starting out for all of us is Word
Of life, that in some synagogue is heard;
Or on the street, from friend, co-worker, wife,
Or husband – words of Christ – our bread of life.

Thanks Lord, for this.
