A Different View Of Herod [Module #56] (John 6:41-45; Matthew 2:1-23)

I never thought of Herod as a “giver” until now,
But something in this passage clicks, and indicates somehow,
That is, combined with input from a chat a while ago,
Which resonates within, “Be sure to tell me [for control]”.

Control for giver-financiers tries context to effect;
It’s here that prayer-dynamics helps us out, and puts in check,
The tendency to get sucked in to Herod’s little schemes,
And pass on information when things aren’t quite as they seem.

So following your Christmas star, and dreaming where to walk,
Are clues to us, “Hear bigger view”, and skip the Herod talk;
Sure, babies will be sacrificed – that can’t be helped it seems –
For Herods spend life here below involved in mean and mean.

“What have you come to see, My friend, in prayer-time with your God,
That you’ve received? Then ask for that”, though it may seem quite odd;
And it will be to you in ways which will surprising be –
That’s half of prayer dynamics, now so meaningful to me.

The other half? “How far can I now take you down that road?
Are you in this, or do you ask I carry all the load?
My actions implications have, no doubt of that, My friend,
So tell me what to do for you? How much assistance send?”

O Lord, I think I’m getting it – MYOB’s the key –
Stay in the prayer-dynamics, Stu, take hold and follow Me;
For Herods sit upon the thrones of institutions here,
So be en-guard, abide in Me, and nothing you need fear.”

Lord, what I hear surprises me –“It’s not my job to fix
All people who come to our town”, which gives another pix –
Of Apostolic Ministry – like, “Do your thing, friend Stu;
Go home another way – there’s other roads out there for you”.

Thanks Lord for this.
