Love And God (Jeremiah 23:9-40)
God is love; but love is not God:
God is love; and love is of God.
I can tread the paths which you’ve trod;
Paths you’ve trod are not all of God.Parking lots have spikes in The States;
Driving in no need to use brakes;
Spikes drop-down as cars enter in,
Backing out’s where trouble begins.Work as “coach” quite innocent seems,
Sounds the same – unseen’s what it means:
Priests they are of Mammon you’ll find,
When you speak what God has in mind.“Edify” and “Push from the ditch”;
“Help the poor shift over to rich”;
“Train your brain”, “God gave you some gifts”;
Don’t stop there – check out what they miss.“Certify” means “Now tow the line,
If you do, the cash-flow is fine;
If you don’t, your ticket we’ll scratch;
In our club you do as we ask.”Schools at first were run by the church;
Industry left kids in the lurch –
One in seven the days for their rest,
Church stepped in, used time that was left.Soon the state was shamed to engage,
Though at first the rich were enraged;
Class broke down – no more based on birth,
Now it’s based on what one is worth.Eden’s choice is basic for all;
It defines the location of wall –
Take your choice, it’s always been there –
Death and life – look close and compare:On the left, it’s love that is God;
On the right, it’s cash – which seems odd,
’Till you see, they both are the same –
Generate’s the name of the game.Both are “Baal” – the worship of growth –
God’s great gift – for life we need both;
God is love, but not the reverse;
God is rich, but not the inverse.Sodom’s sin’s not just about sex;
Check it out – it’s there in the text:
’Zekiel sixteen talks about cash –
Unconcern – not sharing their stash.Jeremiah spoke to that case –
“Watch, my friend, the thought you embrace;
Don’t just buy ‘From God comes my word’,
Listen close, and weigh what is heard”.God does use his Prophets to speak;
Shop around, you’ll find what you seek –
Most guru’s ’till pushed to the wall,
Spin their yarns and tales that are tall.But there comes a moment of choice:
“Place of God in life” – they can’t voice
With their actions, there when it costs,
“Here’s my life, laid down for the lost.”navigation
