True, But There’s A Block (Romans 8:13)

It sounds so easy, Paul lays out
A recipe for life – no doubt
It has some merit – there’s a hitch,
For Spirit-flow can have a glitch.

We’re often trapped inside our ways
Of doing life – what culture says
To us about how life works best,
If we’re to live with vibrant zest.

The glitch in mine, unlike in yours,
Can get resolved, then Spirit pours
Into my life, and sets me free;
But different glitch inhibits thee.

So when I speak to you of God,
You look at me as somewhat odd;
My troubles you know nothing of,
You do not need that kind of love.

So if I’m going to help you come
To better life, enrich your fun,
I need to hear your culture’s ways –
Address the glitch in it, which says –

To you, “You’re free, in Spirit live;
Reverse your life from take to give,
That Spirit flows through you on out;
Rejoice! Life’s great – without a doubt!”
