Baptists Today

As Baptists we are folks who’ve crossed the line,
From sorry life to life that is sublime;
We’ve died to old, been buried, raised again
On other side of pond – in Christ remain.

We are a motley crew whose paths have crossed;
Without our faith in Christ we’d each be lost;
Our faith-perspective’s flavored by our pasts;
We walk this path together while it lasts.

We specialize in pushing from the ditch,
When folks get stuck, and want their lives to switch
To quality which rises to the skies,
And ask for help in which we specialize.

We do the common life uncommonly –
By eyes of faith a deeper level see;
When faith is gone, it’s hope that takes its place;
When hope dissolves there’s love in every case.

For love is where the miracles appear –
Folks turn around, then signs of hope come clear;
Then eyes of faith see what is still unseen;
Until life opens up where death has been.

So, having crossed the line, we reach on back
To folks who want a life, assistance lack;
“Here, take my hand, my other hand’s ahead
In Christ – out from that ditch you’ll soon be led”.
