Ill-gotten gain (Prov.1:8-19 and Eph.2:1-10)

"Prosperity with righteousness" – a harder route by far –
Temptations to gang up and seize some loot quite common are;
But traps we make for other folks just going about their biz,
Are really laid for us instead, and that's where trouble is.

False wisdom flows from greedy mouths intent on unjust gain,
For justice in the business world is based on fair exchange;
I trade with you, you trade with me, thus both of us advance,
We bless each other in this way – new life can have a chance.

But when we take another's goods with nothing in return,
We strip their wholeness and their peace so what that person learns,
Is that there's evil in the world, and it has come their way,
But further thought reveals the truth, and sometimes they will say –

"They are the losers in this deal, for what they took from me
Belongs to God, it's given to me, so I could   steward be
Of that resource thus I could do a task on earth for Him;
I wonder what they'll say to God when in the end He brings –

"Them to account for words and actions taken in their lives;
For they had resource just like me to make their projects thrive,
But they've not seen how life works out, their part in larger view,
So scrambled after such resource, and thought that's what you do.

"Thus they remove their chance at life, swept up in paltry acts,
So listen, son", the author said, "I'm going to give the facts –
If they come 'round, inviting you to join their foolish game,
Do not give in to what they say, and deeper life you'll gain."
