My Soul's Delight

Sometimes I wake up in the night,
Light under door – my soul's delight
That you are here, not far away,
That we're together on this day.

It has been hard these past few years,
Though not so hard that I shed tears,
But hard enough to push on through
To better days now here with you.

For now we break our fast each day
With words to spur us on to say,
“It need not end in poverty
We can press on, abundance see”.

For as you ponder Giver-land
And seek those ways to understand,
Reflecting back and forwards now,
You bring such richness forth somehow.

So, though I do not comprehend
How all such work can cultures mend,
We carry on, I see the light
Beneath your door, it feels all right.
