The Key
An urban legend ’round these days
Tells of a father – gift he gave
To son at graduation time
Who wanted ‘car to be just mine’.Dad wrapped the key in Bible text;
Son saw the book not key, then retched;
Tossed book aside, wrote off his dad;
Missed point, and key he could have had.To me the use of story now
Is sad, for fault's with dad somehow –
For if he'd said –“Hey, look inside
There's something which those pages hide”–If kid still did not get the point,
Dad could persist, for task is joint –
“Give and receive” – it takes two folks
Then in the end, both share such jokes.Instead the father held his ground,
And in that way son's lost, not found –
A life together trashed – you see,
When father died – son found the key.navigation
