An Omer Of Waiting

An Omer of waiting is what I am in,
Not yet with the power, but freed from my sin;
I don't know my future, where I'm going to
But not to the past; not done – but with you.

It's been a rough road all this slamming about;
But now it is over – with song and a shout
I get up this morning to face this new day,
And wait for Your Spirit to show me the way.

Lord, I've been impatient to come to this place,
Through days of my training, addressing disgrace;
Set free by Your Spirit and death on the cross
Set free to move forward, the past is now tossed.

This past two years’ journey like twelve men of old –
First limited task to try out and make bold
To push from the confines of thought on the page,
Out into the sunshine, some lives to engage.

All mixed in with struggles and issues of life
While dealing with neighbours and family and wife
I found I lost sight of what I am to be
But you held a corner, I regained from Thee.

Lord, as we go forward this day, from now on,
Be with us and guide us, show us our new song –
Through word and through deeds, or how ever you wish
That others might find a new life – such as this.

Thanks.
