The TCK In Fact

Humiliation sometimes falls on us,
(Our words and actions quickly make a fuss);
You said it's where we're headed over all,
But now it's here, I'm feeling two feet tall.

It's strange, I thought it out – it makes most sense –
Reflected on its merits, looked good, hence
I checked the facts and figures, asked around –
It was the best for all that could be found.

It was a multi-play with single act;
I had the means to play it out in fact;
The last time, I had tried to bring it round;
This time, it's coming on my plate was found.

I thank you, Lord, for bringing me this way,
For humbleness lies open every day;
Already stripping layers from my soul
Of dross, which leaves the gold now as the goal.

For “down” is “up” – can't get there on our own;
We struggle for a “top” we think is home;
But as we try to get their day by day
We miss the mark, and often lose our way.

But then when culture’s base is clearly seen
We settle down, become what we have been;
Then live our lives with spontaneity;
Like butterflies, we rise and new life to see.

The life we have now contradicts the flow,
For each decides on how and where to go
Within the context of society;
With lighter load, our way we plainly see.

When challenged, we are startled at the first –
How can this better way be seen as worse?
We catch our breath, then see what's going on –
Our culture’s coming out, no it's not “wrong”.

For love's the way, we choose it with no doubt;
Then laughter fills our hearts, we dance and shout;
For freedom’s come to us, this unseen way;
The sun emerges from its cloudy day.

Humiliation keeps us on our track
Protects us from the lure of turning back;
Hard-fought the little battles in our soul –
Third down in life, and now its goal to go.

I thank you Lord for your new life today
Which comes to me this unexpected way;
Your word appears so fresh upon the page,
With Rhema-words now I am underway.

I see this will be life from here on in –
Humiliation strips effects of sin;
Like Band-Aids coming off us, fast or slow;
The dross falls off – third down and gold to go.
