The Three Scout Badges
She said three badges Noah got
Like badges earned by Scouts;
Three themes picked up by later folk
Who also figured out –That these three aspects of our lives
Have a great priority;
If we're to have good time of it –
A life of quality.The first, do justice, we desire,
But slow to dish it out;
We want to king of mountain be
And when we're not, we pout.The second, loving mercy, is
For wimps we all agree,
Until that gravel we tossed up
Descends, and then we see.The third, to humbly walk with God,
“Forget it, humble – me?
I'm center of the universe,
One God – that's right – it's me”.Some say the Noah story is
An echo of the gush
Occurring when the land-bridge broke
Filled Black Sea with a rush.Then Noah, (was it Gilgamesh?),
Survivor on that day;
Became the focus of the yarn,
Each story told some way.The Bible version speaks of it,
Highlights the things above –
For justice Noah did in life;
Was pure – skipped push and shove.A Spirit-Walker most of life,
Direction took from there;
He didn't start out life that way
But learned to do and bear –God's will – like building up an Ark
His neighbours thought insane,
Yet in the end it saved his life
When flooding came with rain.I like the Bible stories ’cause
They speak of folks like me,
Who don't start out as mature folks,
But get there – as can we.navigation
