Sisyphus
There was this man named Sisyphus
Rolled boulder up a hill
And when came to the top he had
It roll back – though not killed.Repeatedly he did this task
From morning, noon, till night,
As punishment for some foul deed –
If story I've got right.Like Sisyphus we spend our days
With tasks that never end,
No purpose to their madness, and
And the pathway does not bend.No sooner are we finished than
We try and try again;
Such is the fate of multitudes
Where every day's the same.If you've been there you sympathize –
Like weight loss; getting fit;
Or paying bills; defeating debt;
The house-maintaining shtick.We shovel snow; and cut the lawns;
Commute ten thousand hours;
Face increased work when staff’s cut back
(Again) – beyond our powers.So how do we break out of this,
This cycle of despair?
Start with the ‘Ten Commandment’ list
And insights offered there.They've stood the test of time for folks
Because they form the base
To build a tighter, faster, game
Like hockey-boards on ice.Some say a panel can be gone
And even three or four,
But on the lake we'll chase more pucks
Than play the game and score.A hockey rink can be set up
Just anywhere you like –
At work, at home, at social time,
In daylight or at night:Get God back central to your life;
Admit no lesser core;
Respect Him; stop one day in seven
To center values more;Look after parents; do not kill;
Skip screwing ’round; and theft;
Drop lying gossip; be content –
Stop chasing all the rest.“Ten words” in Hebrew, all it took
For God to make the point,
Solution for rock-pushing lives
We know are out of joint.Our view is clouded by delay –
Throw gravel in the air,
It takes some time to fall back down –
It will – so be aware.navigation
