Aleph And Beht

How Aleph’s constructed in that you can see
Expressive dimension of Spirit for me:
A hand pointing up, and a hand pointing down,
A unified “and”– centers me like the ground.

Then  “Beht” as creation – the world of my life,
Where God pours His life giving force full in the strife,
As part of creation, the local-ly part
Creation within me, his words to impart.

Not teacher, or prophet, that's not what I mean;
Evangel, caregiver, that's not what I've been;
A borderline crosser from time of my birth,
Reflects more my purpose for being on earth.

When one crosses boundaries the danger runs high –
To them you're a stranger, (a good way to die);
So most do not bother to cross o'er that line
“The comforts of home, why they suit me just fine”.

But Jesus had visions of light from his group
As blessings for nations not just for his troop;
So he changed direction of flow in to out
Took salt, light, and leaven to scatter about.

Instead of “Be Jewish to learn about God”
He stripped out its essence (to them it seemed odd)
Selected twelve men from his disciple crew –
“Fluff up, and enlighten, and flavour their stew”.

So armoured with words they climbed over the wall,
Spread out to the Gentiles with no fear at all;
Each cultural mansion in God's real estate
Got salt, light, and leaven for bread which they ate.

Along came a rabbi of feminine stock,
Affected by Schachter, and with others walked;
She too saw the vision He saw long ago,
With salt, light, and leaven, o’er wall she did go.

So here we all are for a weekend sublime,
We sit here reflecting till pain in our spine;
But silent and patient we listen with care
Our cultures illumined with flavour and ‘air’.

For Spirit within points to Father without,
In unified blessing, from God without doubt;
We, like the Egyptians and Persians of old,
Are blessed by her presence, new treasures we hold.

We are the tradition of wall-jumping types,
Committed to spreading Good News left and right;
But parts of their learning we missed on our way,
So Marciea's gift gives us more we can say.
