Now

There’s no time quite like the present,
As we face the locus shift;
For we find that we are in it,
That there simply is no rift
Twixt the past and future being
(We have been there all along),
It’s just like Third Culture status,
View of homeland was all wrong.

But it takes some getting used to
As I think about my place;
Such relief and yet confusion
Dominates my psychic space.
It’s no wonder things weren’t working
As I lived my life till now;
But I muddled to the present,
Living here as there somehow.

Lord, I find this new location
Of my being is like when,
Some new factor in a spreadsheet
Changes everything and then,
When it’s shifted, all the factors
Rippling through each cell below,
Final outcome is quite different
Just one change and pressing ‘go’.

For as truth gets implemented,
That’s when factors rearrange;
It’s when we apply some difference
We experience the change;
Then it takes some getting used to
As we see the net effect;
Here the word is also different:
“Stu you ain’t seen nothing yet”.

Lord, I’d like to take two years to
Get accustomed to this view;
But I know that may be stupid,
For it’s more what You will do,
As I carry on with living
Trying to stay each day in You;
Not so much new tasks for doing
More the guidance and the fuel.

But it’s such a new perspective,
Some adjusting I must do,
Like new pilots in the cockpit,
“Where’s the switches I must use?”
Ah! This is a simulation,
Life progresses just the same;
Doesn’t matter what the outcome,
’Cause our project’s just a game.

“Have some fun while prototyping
Paradigm and structured view;
It’s a joke, out playing Pirates,
Having fun in what you do;
Yes, the outcome is quite certain,
It’s as certain as can be;
But it’s all about perspective,
As you sail the seven seas.

Stress-control, is from perspective,
Play a game and have a blast;
You don’t have to be so somber,
Pause and savor – make it last;
For your life was built for living,
Peace and joy are all mixed in;
Just regard your old perspective
As a place where you have been.

You’re not there – your view’s more playful,
Like in heaven, not down on Earth;
Lighten up, it’s all delightful,
Second Life from second birth;
Don’t make chore and task and effort
Out of gifts I’ve given to you;
Seize the moments with their pleasure,
Just relax – enjoy the view.

Lord, Your ways are so amazing,
Help me live Your joyful ways;
You’re so helpful in my learning,
Filling up with joy my days;
As I see this morning’s sunshine
Slant with beauty through the leaves,
Think I’ll go and take some pictures,
For that game my stress relieves.
