Models, Mystery, And Miracles

Sometimes the way we do our lives must change,
The patterns of our days now rearrange;
The time it took to do some task before
Has shifted – long or short – to less or more.

Take models of the segments of our lives,
Where intuition, multi-tasking thrives,
When modeled in NVivo-10 I find
There’s less for me to maintain in my mind.

Then intuition’s flow is shifted to
Our left-brain, as we think what we should do;
A snapshot captures stages, yet the flux
Of life enables change when not enough –

Of life in that dimension. Snap again,
And soon a trail of pictographs remain
Which capture flux and fixity for all,
So we can look at both and see it all.

I’ve tried to do it using notes and words,
As writing captures things I’ve seen and heard;
It’s hard for me to read, and memory
Just needs a point to rebuild what I see.

But models, once they’re made can shift and change,
Components of our lives can rearrange;
While snapshots of each phase brings past to mind,
The flow of snapshots stretch out over time.

In art I did that with my camera pics;
Each part I’d add, then stop as shutter clicked;
With digital these flow with subtle shifts,
And cheaply capture things I would have missed.

But now, NVivo lets me model on,
Preserve the past with clicks ’fore it is gone;
A part connects somehow encoded parts,
But even this is faster than my art.

I find much faster uptake comes from pix,
So flow from one to next with men of sticks
Is quick to see, much faster than with words.
So bigger scope of time can now be heard.

But maybe loss of detail is in part
A shifting up my scope, seen in my art;
A trade-off – laugh, and use these little pix,
To capture detail, move on once it’s fixed.
