• The province will consult with and assist municipalities that currently do not have land use plans to adopt development plans and zoning bylaws, and join planning districts. The province provides organizational and advisory assistance, as well as 60 per cent cost-shared financial assistance of up to $40,000.
• The province will provide financial assistance, in the form of one-time 50 per cent cost-shared grants, to assist municipalities to update existing bylaws in a timely manner.
• The role of provincial Technical Review committees, which provide advice to municipalities on livestock proposals, will be expanded to include the evaluation of the local cumulative impacts of the livestock industry. This will assist in identifying opportunities for growth of the industry across the province. The province will also improve public access to the reports of the Technical Review committees.
